Ahmad bin 'Umar bin Saalim bin Ahmad bin 'Abood Aboo 'Umar Baazmool as-Salafee al-Makkee ar-Rihaabee, Baazmool is a tribe that originates from Kindah, the teacher at al-Masjidil-Haraam.

He was born in Makkatil-Mukarramah on the first of Jumaadaal-Awwal in 1391AH (by Islaamic Calendar). He grew up in Makkah studying with its scholars. He studied, mainly, under his brother Shaykh Muhammad bin 'Umar Baazmool. Till he graduated, Shaykh Ahmad hardly left his brother's side. Some of the many books he studies with his brother include: Kitaabut-Tawheed of Ash-Shaykhil-Islaam, Muhammad bin 'Abdil-Wahhaab, Bulooghal-Maraam of al-Haafidh Ibn Hajar, al-Warakaat of al-Juwaynee and many of Ash-Shaykhil-Islaam, Muhammad bin 'Abdil-Wahhaab Books in Tawheed and other subjects, he also studied the Introduction of Usoolit-Tafseer of Ash-Shaykhil-Islaam, Ibn Taymiyyah. He also studied many books concerning the knowledge and sciences of Qur'aan.

Among his Mashaayikh (and teachers) is Shaykh (Dr.) Waseeyullaah 'Abbaas. With him, Shaykh Ahmad learned and studied Nuzhatun-Nadhr and attended many of his lessons in Umdatil-Ahkaam. Shaykh Ahmad also studied with Dr. Abbaas while he was achieving his masters in knowledge of Takhreej and Narration (studying the chain of narration).

A group of scholars have given him the permission to teach and narrate. Till this day Shaykh Ahmad's narrations are over one hundred from all over the Islaamic world. He has maintained a collection that contains the names of all the Mashaayikh that narrated to him with the details of their narration.

Many scholars have praised him and wrote many letters of recommendation allowing him to teach. Shaykh Muhammad bin 'Abdillaah As-Sabeel (Imaam & preacher of Al-Masjidil-Haraam) said on 10/20/1423AH: "Brother and Shaykh Ahmad bin 'Umar bin Saalim Baazmool is one of the good students of knowledge and has received his masters from the University of Ummil-Qurraa, and has put much effort in giving da'wah (spreading and calling to the word of Allaah), and in lighting the issues and affairs that concerns Islaam. I have known him as a man with the correct 'Aqeedah and he has been following the Manhaj (methodology) of Ahlis-Sunnah wal Jamaa'ah and warns against innovators and desires."

Shaykh Waseeyullaah 'Abbaas had said in 04/17/1415AH: "The student and brother Ahmad bin 'Umar Baazmool is a graduate of the College of Ad-Da'wah, and now is attending the High Studies in the section of al-Kitaab & Sunnah. I have known him for many years since he studied under me in some of the subjects required in that section. He is, how I have always known him, a strong student of knowledge with high manners. From what I have seen, the knowledge that he accumulated in his field is deep for his level. I ask Allaah that he continues on his path and make him a beneficial to people. He had asked me to write a recommendation for him to able him to teach in a University, so I ask Allaah that it becomes fulfilled."

Ash-Shaykh Dr. Saalih al-Fawzaan (a member of the Iftaa Committee) reviewed Shaykh Ahmad's book (Al-Madaarij) in 03/07/1425H and said: "Al-Hamdulilaah wa Ba'd (Praise be to Allaah and therefore): I have read this book (i.e., Al-Madaarij) that was written by our brother Ahmed bin 'Omar bin Saalem Baazmool about the issue of refuting the Khawaarij, I found this book Al-Hamdulilaah complete in its field in replying to the trials of this deviant and evil group. May Allaah give the author the best of reward for its achievements in fighting the evil of this group and refuting their lies. A group from the greatest of Imaams of Islaam and the Sunnah narrated from him, from the head of them Muhammad bin Ismaa'eel al-Bukhaaree (d. 256H). He has been praised by the scholars greatly, Imaam Ahmad said, "al-Humaidee, in our view, is an Imaam". Ishaaq bin Raahawaih said, "The Scholars in our time are ash-Shaafi'ee, al-Humaidee and Abu Ubayd". And Imaam al-Bukhaaree said, "Al-Humaidee is an Imaam in Hadeeth". He is: Abu Ibraaheem, Ismaa'eel bin Yahyaa, bin Ismaa'eel bin Amr bin Muslim al-Muzanee al-Misree

He is the most prominent student of Imaam ash-Shaafi'ee. His other Shaykhs are Nu'aym bin Hammaad, Alee bin Ma'bad bin Shaddaad al-Basree, and Asbagh bin Naafi'. The small number of his Shaykhs is explained by the fact that he kept very close attachment to his Shaykh, ash-Shaafi'ee, and he did not travel a great deal to the various lands of Islaam, but sufficed himself with the Shaykhs of Egypt (Misr).
Abu Ishaaq ash-Sheeraazee said (as-Siyar of adh-Dhahabi 12/493):

I saw al-Muzanee and I have not seen anyone of greater worship of Allaah than him, and nor more precise in fiqh than him.
Adh-Dhahabi said (as-Siyar 12/492):

The Imaam, the Allaamah, the jurist of the Ummah, the signpost of the ascetics.
And al-Bayhaqi mentions the saying of ash-Shaafi'ee (Manaaqib ash-Shaafi'ee 2/356):

If this one - pointing at al-Muzanee - debated with the Shaytaan, he would have cut him off (in argument)
His students include:

  • Abu Bakr bin Khuzaimah (d. 311H),
  • Abu Ja'far at-Tahawi (d. 321),
  • Zakariyyaa bin Yahyaa as-Saajee (d. 307H),
  • Abul-Hasan bin Jawsaa (d. 320H),
  • Abu Muhammad bin Abdur-Rahmaan bin Abee Haatim ar-Raazee (d. 327)
He was born in 175H, the year in which al-Layth bin Sa'd died, and he died in 264H.
