His Name and Lineage: 
He was the Shaikh and Imaam, ‘Abdul-Lateef, son of the great scholar, ‘Abdur-Rahmaan bin Hasan, son of Shaikh-ul-Islaam Muhammad bin ‘Abdil-Wahhaab, may Allaah have mercy on all of them.

His Birth: 
He was born in 1225H in the land of knowledge and scholars – Dir’iyyah.

His Life: 
‘Abdul-Lateef moved with his father to Egypt during his early youth immediately after the destruction that befell Dir’iyyah at the hands of Ibraheem bin Muhammad ‘Alee Pasha, may Allaah give him what he deserves. He was almost eight years old at the time. He grew up in Egypt, got married there and was able to involve himself in seeking knowledge as well as advance in his studies. Afterward, he went back to Najd in 1264H and then arrived at the city of Riyadh, where he resided for several months, attending some lessons. He then moved to Ahsaa where he served as a teacher and a caller. He remained there for a period of time and then returned to Riyadh again.

His Teachers: 
We have learned from what was mentioned previously that the Shaikh, may Allaah have mercy on him, resided in Egypt for a period of time, studying under a number of scholars, amongst whom were:

1. His father, Imaam ‘Abdur-Rahmaan bin Hasan, (author of the book Fat’h-ul-Majeed)
2. Shaikh ‘Abdur-Rahmaan bin ‘Abdillaah bin Muhammad bin ‘Abdil-Wahhaab,
3. Shaikh Muhammad bin Mahmood bin Muhammad Al-Jazaa’iree,
4. Shaikh Ibraaheem Al-Baajooree, and others.

His Students: 
Numerous students learned under the Shaikh, amongst whom were:

1. His student, Shaikh “Hisaan-us-Sunnah” Sulaymaan bin Sahmaan,
2. His son, Shaikh ‘Abdullaah,
3. His brother, Shaikh Ishaaq, and others.

His Writings: 
The Shaikh, may Allaah have mercy on him, passed away and left behind him a number of written works, amongst which are:

1. Misbaah-udh-Dhulaam fir-Raddi ‘alaa man Iftaraa ‘alaash-Shaikh-il-Imaam,
2. Minhaaj-ut-Ta’sees,
3. Radd ‘alaa ash-Shubuhaat al-Faarisiyyah,
4. Ar-Radd ‘alaas-Sahaaf, which is the book that we are now verifying,
5. As well as a number of treatises compiled by his student, Sulaymaan bin Sahmaan, may Allaah have mercy on him.

His Death: 
He, may Allaah have mercy on him, passed away in the city of Riyadh on the fourteenth day of Dhul-Qi’dah 1293H, may Allaah have mercy on him.
