His Name and Lineage:
He is ‘Ubayd bin ‘Abdillaah bin Sulaymaan Al-Hamdaanee Al-Jaabiree. The tribe of Jaabir is from the family of Harb al-Hijaaz. He was born in the town of “Faqeer” in the valley of Far’ in the district of the prophetic city (Madeenah) in 1357H.
His Studies:
In 1365, he moved with his father to Mahd adh-Dhahab where he began his first levels of education.
He settled in Madeenah in 1374H but due to family circumstances, he had to discontinue his studies for a period of time.
In 1381H he resumed his studies starting with Darul-Hadeeth in Madeenah, then the educational institute (Ma’had-ul-‘Ilmee), then the College of Sharee’ah (Islamic Law) in the Islamic University, from which he graduated in 1392H with the grade of excellent at the head of his class.
His Teachers:
As for his teachers, then all of them deserve credit, after Allaah, for his good upbringing, proper methodology and understanding of the Religion of Allaah.
From the most prominent of these teachers was:
In Darul-Hadeeth:
1. Shaikh Sayfur-Rahmaan bin Ahmad
2. Shaikh ‘Ammaar bin ‘Abdillaah
In the Educational Institute:
1. Shaikh ‘Abdul-‘Azeez bin ‘Abdillaah Al-Khudayree
2. Shaikh ‘Awdah bin Talqah Al-Ahmadee
3. Shaikh Dakheelullaah bin Khaleefah Al-Khaleetee
4. Shaikh ‘Abdur-Rahmaan bin ‘Abdillaah Al-‘Ajlaan
5. Shaikh Muhammad bin ‘Abdillaah Al-‘Ajlaan
In the Islamic University:
1. The Muhaddith, Shaikh Hammaad bin Muhammad Al-Ansaaree
2. The Muhaddith, Shaikh ‘Abdul-Muhsin Al-‘Abbaad
3. Shaikh Abu Bakr Al-Jazaa’iree
His Duties:
1. He served as the Imaam of Masjid As-Sabt in Madeenah from 1387H to 1392H.
2. He was a teacher in the secondary school “‘Umar bin ‘Abdil-‘Azeez” in Jeddah from 1392H to 1396H.
3. He worked as a caller in the Call and Guidance Center (Markaz Da’wah wal-Irshaad) in Madeenah as well as an assistant to the Center’s director when he was present and in his absence from the end of 1396H to 1404H.
4. He worked as a teacher in the Islamic University from the end of 1404H to the beginning of Rajab 1417H when he was pensioned off into retirement due to a necessary restructuring. During the Shaikh’s time spent in the Islamic University, he obtained his Master’s Degree in Tafseer.
